Sen. J.D. Alexander, R-Winter Haven, asked in a letter today to Florida Citizens Property Insurance why the state-backed insurer needs a fitness center and restaurant and concierge services for the new office space it’s seeking. It’s true the insurer mentioned the amenities in an information request to potential landlords or sellers.
But the request shows Citizens isn’t requiring the amenities. And it doesn’t necessarily want them, said Citizens spokesman John Kuczwanski. “It was purely an informational request so we could get a complete picture of what we’re sitting down negotiating for,” he said.
