Hurricane Frances a Slow Path to Destruction

Unbelievable! Two named Hurricanes back to back, with another one lurking out at sea.

Hurricane Frances took a long slow pounding upon the East coast of Florida, especially in Martin County in such beautiful places as Stuart and Jupiter; and as far north as Melbourne; and then traveled across the entire State of Florida, to do more damage.

Here are some general insurance claim guidelines after a storm strikes;

  • Photograph all your damages, both your building and personal property;
  • Make any temporary repairs, tarp your roof, extract the water from your dwelling, (Generally speaking these items are covered under your insurance policy);
  • Do not throw away any damaged items until the adjuster sees your damage;
  • Keep all receipts if your home is not habitable, ie, hotel, meals

Depending on the nature of your damage, there our over three hundred clauses of insurance policy to wade through to determine the extent of your insurance coverage.

Since the insurance industry is already spread thin from Hurricane Charley, this will be a long process;
